Full Tour

The Full Tour last for approximately 75 minutes.

This tour includes the self-guided experience through the Cadbury World Visitor Centre where you can learn about the history of chocolate since its discovery, see how Cadbury chocolate has evolved over the years, view popular Cadbury television advertisements and miniature Cadbury truck replicas, and learn about where Cadbury operates all over the world.

After your journey through the Visitor Centre, you are invited into the theatre to view a film that explains the history of the Dunedin factory and provides a demonstration of how some of the factory’s mouth-watering products are manufactured.  As is only fair, while watching our chocolate being crafted into delicious Cadbury products, you’ll have a goody bag with a chocolate bar to snack on!  You’ll also be given a hair net, and for the lucky gentlemen with facial hair, a beard snood will be gifted as well, so you can giggle with delight while your friends and family don their hats and snoods!

Next, you head outside with your tour guide to observe the cool, vintage trucks and to learn some interesting historical information about the factory’s buildings and their uses over the years.  You’ll be hard pressed to miss the enormous purple silo looming against the sky – it contains a fantastic surprise!

Inside the factory you go to discover the chocolate-making process, right from the cocoa bean all the way through to each of the delicious products – Cadbury Dairy Milk, Old Gold, and Dream chocolate.  At this point, you’ll not only be learning how the chocolate is made, but also smelling it too!

You'll follow the scent of chocolate into the kitchen where you will likely view factory workers and machines producing different products.  As you walk through different parts of the factory, you’ll learn information about production, while filling your bag with even more chocolate!

Before entering the Purple Silo, you'll be treated to a lovely sight of the city and of the Otago Peninsula from the viewing platform.  Then, into the Purple Silo, where you’ll be astonished by one tonne of chocolate flowing down before you, leaving behind the intoxicating scent of liquid chocolate.

We certainly couldn't leave you just smelling the chocolate without satisfying those taste buds with a sampling of fresh, delectable chocolate, could we?  So, after learning some information about Jaffas and Pebbles, you’ll head into Chocolate Tasting to enjoy chocolate in all its melted goodness.

Satisfied and content, filled with chocolate, you’ll head back down to the vintage trucks where you can take photos with your family, your traveling buddies, or even with your tour guide!

Finish the tour off in the Cadbury World shop where you can purchase more chocolate, other lollies, and a fun selection of merchandise ranging from t-shirts to chocolate-scented stuffed animals and pens.

* Please note that visitors are required to remove and leave behind all jewellery (except for rings), cameras, video recording equipment, mobile phones, and bags.  All personal items will be stored in a secure locker upon leaving the theatre.
